Join us in making a positive impact on the lives of children and young people in out-of-home care in Rockhampton! We're on the lookout for dedicated people to join our care team. We are looking for committed people who are interested in Part Time and Casual vacancies in our Child and Family Services. 

Our care team members provide tailored therapeutic interventions aimed at addressing the unique needs of each child or young person we care for to help them overcome trauma and build resilience on their journey to adulthood in Out of Home Care.

The Role:

As a valued member of our care team, you'll play a crucial role in assisting children and young people to fulfil their potential and achieve what is important to them through day-to-day provision of care, nurturing and safety  in our Out of Home Care Programme. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Meeting the child or young persons daily care needs such as personal hygiene, health and well-being, medical, transportation, recreational and educational support needs.
  • Contribute to and maintain a quality care environment for all children and young people that is safe, clean and personalised to those that live there.
  • Document accurately events and developments related to the day-to-day provision of care on the child or young persons journey with us.
  • Teaching important capacity building skills to children and young people living with a diagnosed disability
  • Ensure children and young people’s NDIS plans are accessible for them while in our care
  • Utilising trauma informed practices and supports in day-to-day care provision for children and young people.
  • Providing positive behaviour support, therapeutic interventions and safety to children and young people who may experience events of escalation and crisis.
  • Supporting young people in developing essential life skills, including education, vocational training, and independent living skills.
  • Encouraging and facilitate opportunities for social engagement, recreation, and community involvement.
  • Collaborating with the care team to develop and implement individualised support plans.
  • Advocating for the rights and needs of the children and young people Support young people in developing essential life skills, including education, vocational training, and independent living skills.
  • Acting as a mentor and role model, providing guidance and support in developing healthy interpersonal relationships.
  • Promoting and support positive relationships and connection for children and young people with family, culture and community.
  • Empowering young people to set and achieve personal goals, fostering a sense of agency and autonomy in their lives.
  • Supporting children and young people to identify their strengths and aspirations, helping them build a positive vision for their future.
  • Help children and young people reach developmental and life milestones towards a healthy, happy and thriving life.

About You:

We are looking for care team members who have a demonstrated passion for helping children and young people heal and grow through understanding and support.  Experienced in offering support to individuals with disabilities and complex support needs, helping them lead fulfilling lives and promoting their independence.

You'll understand the importance of trauma informed care, consistency and stability in the lives of children and young people. Adapting responses and utilising a broad range of support strategies. Be committed to meticulous documentation and reporting with a deep commitment to the safeguarding of vulnerable children and young people.

You should have availability to suite a rotating roster that includes mornings, afternoons, weekends and overnights.

Essential qualifications include a current paid working with children check, national police check, valid driver’s license, and a suitable minimum qualification, lived experience or be eligible for a traineeship.
